The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain will be held at the University of Salford, Manchester from 5th to 8th September. The local organisers are Oliver Bond, Iván García-Álvarez and Heike Pichler. The Meeting will last four days and will feature several special events, listed below.

Syntax workshop

Language tutorial

There will be a special workshop on syntax related to Mark Baker’s Henry Sweet Lecture, on 5th September organized by Anders Holmberg.


There will be a Language Tutorial on Gayo (Gayo, Austronesian; Indonesia), given by  Domenyk Eades (University of Salford).

Special themed session

Education Committee Session

There will also be a special themed session on 8th September, related to Lisa Cheng’s Linguistics Association Lecture, with the title The syntax-phonology interface, for which abstracts are now invited. These should be submitted in the same way as abstracts for the general sessions, but should be clearly marked as intended for the special session.

The LAGB Education Committee will hold a two-hour session on whether a unified terminology is possible for grammar. Further details are available on the Education Committee website:
