In this talk, Aris Clemons, founding associate editor of (JBLAC) the Journal of Black Language and Culture (Cambridge University Press and LSA) and founding co-editor of (RJME) the Journal of Racial Justice in Multilingual Education (UPENN University Commons), reviews the ways in which she and her team came to their ideas for the formation of two unique and trailblazing journals. She will then speak about the roadblocks that each team encountered in their more than two year journeys to starting the journals and the ways in which a grounding in anti-racist and decolonial praxis allowed for the creation of restorative justice for many that had or continue to be harmed during the academic publishing process. She will end by letting everyone know how they can get involved with, access, and support the journal projects especially for emerging and independent scholars.
