Standard Abstracts
The Linguistics Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s (LAGB) Annual Conference welcomes abstract submissions from all subfields of linguistics to capture the diversity of linguistics research in the UK and beyond. LAGB 2026 will feature not only our usual general sessions that will run throughout the conference, but also Special Interest Panels (for details see below). Abstracts can be submitted by both members and non-members. All abstracts will be anonymously peer-reviewed by an international committee of reviewers. The length for all papers delivered at the LAGB 2026 meeting is 20 minutes (plus 10 minutes discussion). You may submit a maximum of two abstracts, and a maximum of one of these may be single-authored.
Formatting guidelines
To ensure that we are able to consider your General Session abstract, please ensure that it adheres to the following guidelines:
- Maximum of two single-spaced A4 pages (including references) with margins of at least 2.5cm on all sides, with type no smaller than 12 point font in Times New Roman.
- Submitted anonymously, with no indication of the author’s identity.
- Immediately below the title of your abstract, please indicate whether the abstract is to be considered for a general session presentation.
- In PDF format, with any phonetic characters either embedded in the PDF file, or in the Doulos SIL font, which can be downloaded for free from this site: http://scripts.sil.org/DoulosSIL_download.
Call for papers – Special Interest Panels
LAGB 2026 will feature the continuation of Special Interest Panels. These SIPs will contain either 4 or 8 presentations relating to a particular theme or area of language-based interest, and may come from any sub-discipline of linguistics (If you wish to substitute a talk for discussion time, please state this in the submission). Panel organisers are invited to submit a description/ rationale for the panel, as well as an indicative list of contributors.
Panel packages must contain the following and be submitted as a single file:
- Title of the Panel
- The name(s) and contact details of the organiser(s)
- Description/ rationale for the panel (1 page of A4, not including references)
- Indicative list of presentations including title and brief description (50-100 words each). Note, 4 talks are required for a single session (or 3 talks + 1 discussion slot), 8 talks for a double session (or 6 talks + 2 discussion slots)
Submissions for both general session abstracts and Special Interest Panels should be submitted to our online platform, OpenReview.
The extended deadline for all submissions is 5PM BST on Monday 27 April 2026.
