    We are excited to invite you to a series of workshops culminating in a public lecture from this year’s Randolph Quirk Fellow, Prof. Veneeta Dayal (Yale University).

    The details for the workshops are as follows:

    20th May: Workshop #1 - Demonstrative to Definite, What Changes and What Stays the Same

    21st May: Workshop #2 - Demonstratives, Definites, Bare Nouns: What Competes with What

    22nd May: Workshop #3 - (In)definiteness in Article-less Languages and Article Use in New Englishes

    Each of the hybrid workshops takes place from 14:00 to 16:00 both in ArtsTwo 2.17 and online via Zoom. Please follow links at this year’s dedicated page (link above) for more details, including information about Zoom access.

    The details for the public lecture are as follows:

    23rd May 14:00 – 15:30: Optional Plural Marking in General Number Systems and the Effects of Animacy Restrictions

    The public lecture takes place in the Maths Building Lecture Theatre, and online via Zoom. The lecture will be followed by a reception until 16:30 with drinks and snacks provided.
