A fully funded PhD position in syntax/bilingualism is available at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) beginning September 2019. This includes a full fee waiver and a stipend/bursary at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) level. The stipend will be uplifted in line with UKRI recommendations each year.
The topic of the PhD is Heritage language bilingualism: challenges and opportunities. The primary focus of this project is to contribute to the documentation of the grammar of a UK heritage language. This will ideally be a language that’s spoken widely in the East of England (Urdu, Polish, Bengali, Panjabi or Portuguese – DfE, 2012), and one for which GCSE and A-level qualifications exist.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in linguistics, with a particular interest in syntax and bilingualism and competence in a UK heritage language.
The deadline for applications is 3 March 2019 and studentships start in September 2019. Interviews will be held on Monday 30 April 2019 at our city centre campus in Cambridge.
