    Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the first call for papers.

3rd University of Westminster Linguistics Conference

Theme: Language contact and change in an interconnected world

The conference theme is chosen to explore the interesting and multiple linguistic spaces that we all share in our ever-interconnected world. We live in a time of great linguistic and cultural diversity and other ecopolitical manifestations that impact the study of language and linguistics in both urbanised and more rural settings. In light of these developments, and the presumed increasing contact between various languages in our interconnected world, the conference invites a dialogue that reflects on these issues.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, bilingualism, multilingualism and translanguaging; syntax; phonetics and phonology; morphology; first and second language acquisition; language strategy and language policy; minority languages; contrastive linguistics; corpus linguistics; computational linguistics; lexicology and lexicography; discourse analysis; forensic linguistics; psycholinguistics; sociolinguistics; language and (new) media; language, identity and discourse; translation and language acquisition/learning.

We invite submissions for three types of presentation:

    Individual Papers:

Oral presentations on original research by one or more authors within a 20-minute period with 10 minutes for questions.

    Workshops:
Workshops on original research by one or more authors within a 50-minute period with 10 minutes for questions and discussion.

    Posters:
Posters will be displayed during a dedicated poster session. Posters of standard A0 size should be submitted to the registration desk on the morning of the conference.

    Key Information:

Please include the following information in the body of your email: author's name, affiliation, email address, paper title, and the presentation category (paper, workshop, or poster) in your submission.
