Message from Imogen Davies from the Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (ULAB) to pass on to undergraduate students at your institution

Exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to present their research at ULAB annual conference!

The Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (ULAB) holds a conference once a year for undergraduate students studying linguistics and language-related topics to come together and present findings from their research. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet other undergraduates interested in the same things you are, and gain experience presenting your work to a wider audience, which can be useful in any future career path.

This year’s conference will take place from 3rd-5th April at the University of Oxford.

There are several ways to get involved: if you’ve completed or are currently working on any type of research project or dissertation in a linguistics-related area*, you can submit an abstract hereto present your work at the conference. You can choose whether you’d like to do this in the form of a full presentation (roughly 20 minutes) or a short presentation/poster.

Students are also welcome to attend the conference without presenting anything themselves – this can be a great idea if you’re currently a first-year or second-year who might want to present something in future years!

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 2nd February (but don’t worry about writing the perfect abstract – it will only be other students reading them, so anything that summarises the topic you’d like to talk about is welcomed, even if you don’t know your conclusion yet!)

If you’d like to find out more about the conference, you can visit the ULAB website or Facebook page, or contact me at isd25@cam.ac.uk to ask any questions.

    Good luck with your submissions!

    Imogen
