3-year lecturer position in language acquisition/ sociolinguistics/multilingualism, U Manchester

    The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a three year lectureship post in Linguistics, within the Department of Linguistics and English Language. This is tenable from 1st September 2020 for 34 months. The successful candidate will have a record of excellence in theory-driven research and teaching in language acquisition (excluding TESOL and language pedagogy), and/or sociolinguistics, and/or bi/multi-lingualism.

    Applicants must hold a PhD or a relevant equivalent qualification in Linguistics, with a specialisation in language acquisition (excluding TESOL or language pedagogy), and/or sociolinguistics, and/or bi/multi-lingualism. Consideration may also be given to candidates whose PhD is to be completed before the start of the post.

    The successful candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to the research strategy of the School by publishing high-quality peer-reviewed research outputs. They will be expected to contribute to curriculum design and teaching on the English Language and Linguistics undergraduate programmes and the Linguistics MA programme by offering modules in the area(s) indicated above. They will also be expected to contribute to administrative tasks within the Department or School, and participate in regular recruitment activities and staff-student events.
