The School of Arts, Language and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time (0.8 FTE) temporary teaching-focused Lectureship in Forensic and Corpus Linguistics, tenable from 1 September 2023 until 31 August 2024, to provide cover for colleagues bought out on funded research grants and fellowships. An extension beyond one year may be possible in the case that more buy-out funding becomes available.

The successful applicant will convene and teach (on campus) all lectures and seminars for two course units in the areas of Corpus Linguistics and Forensic Linguistics, and contribute to first and second marking of additional course units in English Language. Both modules are offered as part of the single honours Undergraduate programmes in Linguistics and English Language and joint honours programmes with either of these subjects; the Forensic Linguistics module is also open to MA students in Linguistics. Materials for both modules are available but can be updated. The scope of the position also includes setting assessments, marking, holding office hours, maintaining a virtual learning environment on Blackboard for the two modules, supervising a small number of undergraduate and MA dissertations, and taking on small administrative roles within the department.
