    Nominations for Chair of UCGAL

The LAGB would like to make a nomination for the chair of the University Council of General and Applied Linguistics (UCGAL). UCGAL is the umbrella organisation for learned societies in linguistics and aims to provide a unified voice on public policy matters for linguistics within the UK higher education community and to promote linguistics to the public in a more general way (for further details, see http://www.essex.ac.uk/linguistics/external/ucgal/). The position becomes vacant at the end of the term of the current chair, Prof. Ros Mitchell (Southampton), in July. All learned societies in linguistics are invited to make nominations, and there will be an election if more than one candidate is nominated. If you are interested in being nominated by the LAGB, or would like further details, please contact me (dwew2@cam.ac.uk) by close of business on 24 May.
